DELIVERING THE GOODS... Once bidding ends, the goods
need to ship out to their new rightful owners...and that is where the USPS
is positioning itself, as not a shipping alternative but as a complete
solution for eBay sellers to other carriers like UPS and FedEx. But
the Postal Service, already losing revenue by people using e-mail and
those other carriers, needed a distinct edge. So, it has now
teamed-up with eBay, providing FREE eBay workshops throughout the area,
either in the Post Office facility itself, or, when possible, at a hotel,
or other venue. It is here that USPS employees like Kathleen Monaco
of Whippany work hard Flyers like the one below are
mailed to everyone in the participating zip codes, inviting them to a 1
1/2 hour course, run by Kathleen and her team, all of whom were thoroughly
trained in the E-bay very own University. At the seminar,
participants view demonstrations about selling on eBay and shipping
products to customers using the US Postal Service. Those who
pre-register receive a free gift, a special, limited edition CD filled
with practical forms and tips for eBayrers ___________________________________ Masonic Lodge Honored with Award and Proclamation On April 9, 2007, the Borough of Madison, NJ delivered a Proclamation from the Mayor and Town Council honoring Madison Masonic Lodge No. 93 of Free and Accepted Masons. It was a very proud night for the Lodge as the Proclamation was read, honoring the group for their exemplary leadership and involvement in the Community The evening also celebrated the Lodge's winning of the Masonic Information Center's Mark Twain Masonic Awareness Award for exemplary work in constructing a positive Masonic identity within the lodge and throughout the local community.
Lodges nationwide participated
in the 2006 Twain Award competition as part of the growing network
of lodges that are working together brother by brother, lodge by
lodge to achieve the goals expressed in the report, It’s About
Time; Moving Masonry into the 21st Century.
“The Mark Twain Award
celebrates a new enthusiasm among Masonic lodges to reclaim our
prominent place within our communities,” says Richard E. Fletcher,
Executive Secretary of the Masonic Information Center, “Members of
Madison Lodge are to be applauded for raising their own personal
standards of performance and for reaching out into the Madison
community to broaden and strengthen the identity of Freemasons.
Their activities and energy demonstrate a new commitment to
self-improvement and education that is sweeping through lodges
across the country.”
“As we demonstrate the
relevance of Masonic values to ourselves and our community, we
just naturally create a positive environment for personal growth,
“says Fletcher. “It’s an exciting time for us.”
Most historians believe
Freemasonry arose from stonemasons’ guilds in the Middle Ages and
began to flourish in the 1700’s in Europe and the American
Colonies. Many of our nation’s founders were Masons including
George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Paul Revere. They helped
spread the ideals of the Enlightenment such as the dignity of the
individual and public education. Today North America’s Masonic
Fraternity provides fellowship for over 1.5 million members.
Masons are known throughout their communities for their work with
schools, hospitals and speech and language clinics.
Robert Guidice, Worshipful Master (President) of Madison #93 offered his views: "There is a quote by Frank Herbert, that I feel is fitting for this time in Madison 93. “Without change, something sleeps inside us, and seldom awakens. The sleeper must awaken.” Guidice thanked the Mayor, Council and members of his Lodge, many of whom were in attendance that evening, including Dale S. Keller, Edgar M. Coster,. H. Austin Mitscher, David R. Berger, Edward A. Monkemeier, Harold F. Danielson Jr., Roger B. Kramp, George Kryzaniwshy, and Gordon M. Fleming, all of whom are actively involved with various youth and volunteer groups within the Borough.
